ABOUT
Hi, I’m Bobby (he/they)
Welcome to Freewheel!
I’ve spent the last 25 years supporting a diverse range of individuals, organisations, groups and communities across the third and public sectors.

I love working with people to spark ideas, overcome challenges, create positive change and encourage people to see the unique worth and potential that they have.

I’m passionate about bringing the power of coaching and facilitation to people and organisations who might not usually get the chance to experience them, or are not sure what they are or how they can help.
In my spare time you are most likely to find me on a bike, up a hill with our dogs, or at home in Scotland ‘quality testing’ my partner's baking.

My Values & Approach
My work is values-led, with a particular focus on Curiosity, Creativity, Inclusion and Integrity. These values are the core of my work.

Curiosity: I will be curious about you or your organisation and what you want and need. I take a non-directive approach, meaning that in coaching you are always in control of the process, and in facilitation I create as much space as possible for participants to explore and share their own insights.
Creativity: Everything I offer is bespoke to you; there are no ‘off the shelf’ programmes or ‘standard’ coaching formats or questions. I take a flexible approach, offering options for creative activities or using outdoor spaces as required.

Inclusion: My experience is that coaching and facilitation can only be transformative when everyone involved feels safe enough and confident enough to share their own voice and so ensuring this is a critical part of the process. I also believe that coaching should be accessible to everyone, particularly those who might not always have had access to this kind of support. I am committed to diversity, equity & inclusion and I am experienced in supporting neurodivergent clients, the LGBTQ+ community and people with care experience.

Integrity: It’s important that individuals and organisations can trust me to keep any information they share with me confidential and safe. I have GDPR and confidentiality guidelines in place and I adhere to the International Coaching Federation (ICF) values and ethics to ensure a high standard of professional and ethical practice. Why 'Freewheel'?

If you’ve ever glided along effortlessly on a bike, moving forward without even having to turn the pedals- you’ve experienced freewheeling.

Lots of things can stop us freewheeling; a strong headwind, a steep hill we have to climb, or even being stuck in the wrong gear!

When we feel like that in our lives, a good option to try is coaching.

A good coach doesn’t tell you what direction to ride in and they don't push you uphill or change your gears for you. Instead, they ride alongside for a while, encouraging, supporting and sometimes challenging you, so that you can eventually just take your feet off the pedals and ... freewheeeeeel!
